Dr. Abubakr M. Juma Siam
is an Associate Professor of Forestry and Natural Environment at the University of Al Fashir, Sudan, with extensive experience in environmental sciences, higher education leadership, and research collaboration. He holds a Ph.D. in Forestry and Natural Environment from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (2006), an M.Sc. in Forestry (2001), and a B.Sc. in Natural Resources (1995) from the University of Juba, Sudan.
Over more than two decades, Dr. Siam has served in several senior academic and administrative roles, including Principal of the University of Al Fashir (2019–2022), Dean of Graduate Studies (2018–2019), and Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences & Natural Resources (2008–2013). His research focuses on natural resource management, climate change adaptation, and sustainable livelihoods.
Dr. Siam has collaborated with international organizations such as FAO, UN-Habitat, WFP, and TUFTS University on projects promoting community-based natural resource management and peacebuilding in Darfur. He has published widely in refereed journals on forestry, ecology, and environmental sustainability.
He is fluent in Arabic, English, and Greek, and a member of several professional societies, including the Sudanese Society for Environment Protection, the Sudanese Agricultural Engineers Union, and the TWAS Science Diplomacy Alumni Network
